REVIEW: Foodies Festival 2022 | Inverleith Park, Edinburgh

"Buzzed and blazed with the warmth of a fun family and dog friendly atmosphere."

This weekend saw the return of the UK’s largest touring food, drink, and wellbeing festival to Inverleith Park in Edinburgh. The Foodies Festival, a three-day event that whipped up gourmet indulgence and mouth-watering masterclasses from some of the most talented chefs from across the UK, including previous MasterChef winners and finalists, like Tom Rhodes and Sarah Rankin, as well as delicious international street food.

The Foodies Festival buzzed and blazed with the warmth of a fun family and dog friendly atmosphere.

The masterclasses proved very popular – from Ninjas Love Noodles themed cookery class in the Kids Cookery Theatre to the World’s Best Battenberg in the Cake & Bake Theatre, with an added splash of Drag Queen Wine Tasting with Vanity von Glow and Beth Brickenden in the Drinks Theatre.

If that wasn’t enough, there were chilli-eating competitions that delivered even more heat to the Edinburgh crowd, whilst we also enjoyed fantastic live music performances from local bands and artists as well as headliners N-Trance and Callum Beattie.

In amongst all the international grub, I was pleased to find quite a few local businesses and produce exhibiting, and was doubly pleased to hear that the Foodies Festival has helped to launch many more local businesses over the years too.

FOODIES FESTIVAL

Foodies Festival is a celebration of quality local food and drink, launched in Edinburgh in 2006 and now with 12 festivals around the country, making it the largest food and drink festival in the UK.

Each Foodies Festival is a celebration of the food in each region, as we encourage local artisan producers, local street food traders and local food and drink producers to take part.

At the heart of the festival are the theatres, giving top local chefs the opportunity to show off their cooking skills to their audience, who can take the recipes home with them.

We are delighted that MasterChef and MasterChef Professionals winners and finalists come on tour with Foodies and join the fun in the Chefs Theatre.

In the Cake and Bake Theatre local bakers join Bake Off winners and finalists baking and making sweet treats. In the Drinks Theatre wine, champagne, beer, cider and other drinks experts run tutored tastings every hour. The Kids Cookery theatre gives children a chance to taste new flavours and learn basic cooking skills.

On the Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) live music stage top artists perform throughout the event and monies raised are donated to Crisis.

Foodies also brings street food pop ups to other events.
